Welcome to Glencoe's Downtown Tuneup, the project website and collaborative workspace for residents and stakeholders to interact, share ideas, and help make Downtown Glencoe even better.
As highlighted in a January 30th article in the Chicago Tribune:
“We are not finished with downtown,” Thomas said at the commission’s Jan. 25 meeting. Thomas said she expects the village’s sign ordinance to come before the Plan Commission this year. That ordinance was last formally reviewed in 2007, according to village staff.
“I think when it comes to implementation of the plan, as well as the additional pieces, such as the sign ordinance and the zoning changes, I think it is very possible – if not likely – the Board of Trustees will refer (that) to us,” Thomas said.
Thomas expressed optimism that future boards and commissions in Glencoe will examine how the commission went about its work, and believes it could use it as a template for future projects.
“This is a valuable blueprint for a planning process,” Thomas said. “It becomes a functional precedent, not a legal one.”
